Dana Point Harbor After Sunset
DanaPtHarbor-2008-289-web.jpg

My goal is to teach you the difference between "taking a picture" and creating a fine art photograph. I emphasize the techniques of using your camera settings properly to get the shot right during capture. Photoshop is a wonderful tool for all kinds of fine-tuning and creative techniques, and I use it everyday. However, I would rather be out in the field shooting than sitting in front of the computer fixing mistakes so I want to get the best possible shot in camera. I assume you do too. I hope to send you home with a new vision of the natural world as well as being a more capable photographer.

Dana Point Harbor has photo opportunities for docks, boats, the ocean, birds, and people.

Join digital photography instructor Gina Genis in beautiful Laguna Beach, located on the coast of Southern California. You will learn the techniques necessary to produce stunning landscape and nature photographs. I will teach you how to photograph waves breaking on the rocks, sunsets, scenic vistas, harbor boat reflections, birds, and much more. My goal is to send you home with images of photographic art, not just pictures. Secrets about shooting tips and equipment will be shared with you. Laguna Beach and the surrounding canyons, harbor, and Mission offer vast photographic opportunities for macro, wide-angle and telephoto lenses. This workshop is perfect for advanced-beginner and intermediate photographers. We will be visiting Laguna Beach, Salt Creek Beach, Modjeska Canyon, Dana Point Harbor, Sherman Library & Gardens, the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, and Mission San Juan Capistrano. There are modest admission charges for the Mission and Sherman Library and Gardens. These admissions are not included in your tuition. Having quarters in your car for parking meters is highly recommended. Locations are subject to change due to lighting and weather conditions.

Workshop payment may be made by credit card, direct deposit, or debit card through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to make a payment. If you prefer, you may send a personal check. Be aware, however, that your place in the workshop is not secured until the check clears. The Gina Genis Photo Workshops space is limited to provide as much personal attention as possible, so reserve your place early. Non-photographing guests are welcome to join the workshop for an additional $150. Please email me if you are bringing a guest and I will adjust your tuition. If you are unable to attend, and cancel your reservation one month prior to your workshop date, I will gladly refund your registration fee, minus a $50 processing fee. There are no refunds after that.

Recommended Hotel: The Laguna Hills Lodge is conveniently located in Laguna Hills across the street from a mall with shopping, movies, and restaurants. It is reasonably priced and has a pool and spa. They serve breakfast in the morning so you will be able to "fuel up" before we begin the day. If you prefer something in the heart of Laguna Beach, feel free to check out hotels for yourself, but be aware that they will be about triple in price.
